The World Scolds and Kim Jong Il Laughs

Monday, October 9th, 2006

Kim Jong IlWhen diplomats get angry, they use “mean” words. So far we are getting the standard “you’ve been a bad boy” adjectives. Of course, no real threats and no action.

Current list: Reckless, Irresponsible, Provocative, Dangerous.

To do my part, I’d like to suggest some other words that the UN girls can use: Careless, Foolhardy, Incautious, Heedless, Rash, Indiscreet, Imprudent, and Harebrained.

Presidential loser Kerry said:

Massachusetts Democratic Sen. John Kerry, who lost to Bush in the 2004 presidential election, called the North Korea test a “shocking failure” of Bush’s security policy.

“While we’ve been bogged down in Iraq where there were no weapons of mass destruction, a madman has apparently tested the ultimate weapon of mass destruction,” Kerry said.

Though Kerry can’t help but interject the “Iraq-o-failure” posturing, he nailed the shocking failure part.

Let’s face it, Bush completely stepped in a pile of crap when he started the whole Axis of Evil ™ talk. He wasn’t prepared to fight and win against these evil nations. It appears he hoped that his cowboy image and tough talk would be enough to bring change. It wasn’t. He went all in on a bluff and got called.

I’m still waiting for someone to call for a resignation. Can we have such monumental foreign policy failure and everyone gets to keep their jobs?

Clueless in DC

Gotta love the looks this morning on the Bush team. Condi has that look like “what do you mean the six party talks didn’t work…?” Mr. Card looks like “oh crap, will I have a job tonight?” Laura is just asleep.

The early polls show that we have unanimous UN Security Council condemnation (I’m sure North Korea is scared) and this great tidbit:

A statement said Annan “calls on all parties to respond to this grave challenge in a constructive manner, and calls for serious negotiations to be renewed urgently in the framework of the six-party talks.”

I want to know what they smoke over there at the UN. Constructive manner and more six-party talks?! These people are completely insane. It doesn’t matter what some rogue dictator does, the answer is always “let’s talk about it.” When diplomats call for talks it means they have no clue what to do next. North Korea called the world’s bluff and now the UN and the US will show they have no will to overthrow this rogue regime.
